About Me

ashweddingI believe that the core of any brand is storytelling and creating connections.  I collaborate with startups on creating and communicating their unique brand stories and developing lasting connections, whether in branding initiatives, social media strategies, community management tactics, and/or more traditional marketing means.

What’s my story? My entrepreneurship dreams started early, having run my own neighborhood newspaper in high school, acting as editor, writer, and paperboy-girl.  I went on to Babson College, bouncing around in courses in literature, entrepreneurship, marketing and Spanish. Armed with dreams of entrepreneurship and marketing (and a goal to someday live in Europe), I jumped into the corporate world at Bertelsmann, where I developed and implemented employer branding initiatives, created marketing collateral, and built a user community around an internal applicant tracking system. I then decided to get into the “movie business” and joined NCM Media Networks, creating integrated marketing strategies for brands such as HP, Sprint, General Mills, and P&G to showcase their stuff on the big screen (and the online screen, and the mobile screen).

 

After a romantic sunrise proposal and a 3,000 mile move to the sunnier coast, I joined zozi to ramp up social media, build a community and create the best customer experience for zozi activity seekers.  The entrepreneurship bug kept nagging and after marrying the love of my life, I started consulting for startups and have not looked back. I picked up writing again, developing this blog as a home for my thoughts on all things marketing, social media, and tech, and joined the writing team for Techli, reporting on technology, startups, and innovation.
